Exploring Spatial Patterns of Virginia Tornadoes Using Kernel Density and Space-Time Cube Analysis (1960–2019)

چکیده
This study evaluates the spatial-temporal patterns in Virginia tornadoes using National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center’s Severe GIS (SVRGIS) database. In addition to descriptive statistics, analysis employs Kernel Density Estimation for spatial pattern and space-time cubes visualize spatiotemporal frequency of potential trends. Most 726 between 1960–2019 occurred Eastern Virginia, along Piedmont Coastal Plain. Consistent with other literature, both number tornado days have increased Virginia. While 80% during warm season, did occur each month including two deadly January February. Over 60-year period, a total 28 people were killed Commonwealth. activity took place afternoon early evening hours drawing attention temporal variability risk vulnerability. Spatial results identify significant, non-random clusters increasing frequency. this improves weather-related literacy addresses need Commonwealth, more research is necessary further evaluate synoptic mesoscale mechanisms tornadoes.

Pattern mining analysis of pulmonary TB cases in Hamadan province: Using space-time cube
Background and aims: One of the most common approach to understanding spatial and temporal trends of event data is to break it up into a series of time snapshots. Therefore space-time cube method applied in order to portray the likely trend in occurrence of the pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) cases. Methods: In this study, information of all patients with pul...

متن کاملanalysis of spatial point patterns by kernel identification
in the analysis of spatial point patterns, complete spatial randomness (csr) hypothesis, which is a restriction of a homogenous poisson process to study region a, operates as a dividinghypothesis between “regular” and “aggregated” patterns. meanwhile, many alternatives to csr inaggregated patterns are extensions of homogenous poisson processes themselves. therefore, when thecsr hypothesis is rej...
متن کاملAudio classification using dominant spatial patterns in time-frequency space
This paper presents a novel audio discrimination algorithm using spatial features in time-frequency (TF) space. Three types of audio signals – speech, music without vocal and music with background vocal are taken into consideration for classification. The audio segment is transformed into TF domain yielding the spatial illustration of energy. Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is applied to...
متن کاملanalysis of spatial fragmentation in the spatial organization of yazd using network analysis and space syntax
introduction one of the critical issues associated with sustainability in the twenty-first century is how cities are growing and developing in the space. rapid urban growth and physical development of cities cause disintegration of the spatial organization of cities and consequently spatial inequality between urban spaces. this phenomenon can be considered as spatial segregation or fragmentatio...
